What I ask of clients
Your partnership! In order for me to support you as best I can, please come to me with your ideas, questions, or concerns. Communication makes a big impact on the quality of care and consideration we can provide your horse!
Commitment to a regular 4-5 week trim schedule for maintenance. There are some cases who will benefit from a shorter trim cycle for rehabilitation, but I do not often make exceptions for longer trim cycles.
A covered, decently lit, flat and clean space to trim/shoe.
Someone to help handle the horse while I am there, unless otherwise agreed upon.
Payment at the time of the trim. I accept payment via Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, cash, or check.
48 hours of advance notice if you need to reschedule. If you do need to cancel/reschedule within the 48 hours, there is a small cancellation fee.
An understanding of my call fee structure in order to best serve my clients and their horses.
What I promise you
On-time arrival and a prompt notification of any delays longer than 10 minutes.
Shared photos and videos of your horse’s hooves and their progression at your request.
Honest assessments of your horse’s hooves and recommendations for what we can do to improve. If I am not sure of something, I will let you know and will consult with colleagues and mentors.
Appropriate handling. I do not punish horses or use escalating measures of force to make them stand for hoof care. I do my best to work within their comfort zone (physically and/or emotionally) and gain their trust.
Encouraging a safe environment. If a horse will not let me trim, I will not force them to be trimmed. If at any point a horse’s behavior becomes unsafe, I will stop the trim and discuss steps to take in order to try again in a safer manner. Forcing a trim will often only make things harder in the long run.
Support for all your questions and concerns relating to your horse’s hoof care and needs.
My continued education to better benefit the horses I serve through various mentorships, conferences, clinics and more.
